THE HALF DREAM

           

Everyone has a dream in life and they pursue the same for whole life, just trying to meet it. But, what about dreams that come true even though you don't want them to be? What about the dream that makes you feel the pain of broken bone and someone approaching to break more of them? A terrorizing dream can take away someone's sleep for months.

This is the story of Mat and I hope no one witnesses the same story in their own life. Mat, a normal college student living his life saw a dream late night. This dream was not a pleasant one, rather it made him scream in his dream. He studied in city far away from his home. In his dream he saw his house from a far place and he ran towards it. He shouted and called someone out naming Judy. Yet, no one came out and he had to break-in, in his own house as it was locked from inside. He went in and searched for Judy, but he could not find her. He proceeded further and saw some stranger. However, he knew the stranger wearing an old hat and suit and he offered him a drink. The stranger also welcomed the drink. Suddenly, there was thudding on the door. To which Mat responded and ran out to open it. He found a dead body wrapped in a bed sheet beneath the sofa. He saw the body and he was scared and worried at the same time. He was shivering and calling out Judy's name. This is where his dream was over.

Slowly, this dream was the only thing he had in his mind and the same dream was repeating when he fell asleep. It was 3 weeks and he was not able to get over it. One day in his dream, he broke the glass he offered in his dream and there was a wound created on his wrist by the sharp edge of the glass, and because of the pain in the dream he woke up. He saw a shadow of a man opposite the dim light of streets reflected through his window. The reflection was of a well suited man with a piece of broken glass in his hand. Mat was feeling the blood pouring out of his wrist and after seeing the shadow he shouted and ran out of the room. He saw blood in his hand, but there were no wounds. Astonished and glaring at the glass of the window, the shadow disappeared with an amusing laugh. Mat was really frightened. He never thought the man he saw will actually be existing that too not in his world.

A day after, he saw the same dream but, the place was different. It was the place where he was living. The dream was same but he ran in the staircase this time and he was calling Judy again and again. After a long time when no one came out, he broke the glass of the room and entered. The room looked exactly similar to what the house looked like and the same series of event continued. The stranger having the drink with him, the bang on the door, found a body lying under the sofa, blood spilled all over the place and the scream. This time though the dream continued. The stranger attacked Mat and Mat jumped through the window he broke and he ran downstairs. He ran and ran but the stairs did not end. It was a race where no one can win and he ended on the same floor again and again after making all efforts. The Stranger stepped towards Mat with the broken Glass of the window and he stabbed Mat with the broken glass. Again and Again, the pain was horrible and the Mat was alive in his dream. Mat wanted to wake up but he could not. He woke up at last and was bleeding through his mouth feeling excessive stomach ache. He removed the sheet, he was covered under and found small glass pieces piercing his stomach. He saw the shadow of the same man again and this time, the man was holding a large piece of sharp-edged broken glass in his hand. Mat rushed to the door after seeing that shadow and he fell down on his stomach. But he was in shock which drove the pain away when he saw the body under the Sofa. This time the sheet which covered the body was removed by the body itself and the stranger man came out of that sheet bleeding from hand holding the sharp-edged Glass.

Stranger Man: Mat! You remember me? Don't you?

Mat bleeding all over ran and fell down outside his room when stranger man sat on his chest and he was about to stab Mat when Mat fell unconscious. He woke up in a medical room with no trace of any wound. But, there was blood spilled all over in his room, bed, sofa and sheets.

Nurse entered into the room asking how was he feeling?

Mat: Where am I?

Nurse: You're in college's medical room. What happened to you?

Mat: I was bleeding on the ground outside my room when that man tried to stab me? (in a shivering and panicking state he answered)

Nurse: But, you were lying unconscious in the staircase.

Mat was not able to get in his senses back and no one could figure out what happened and why?
